Tuscan Wine & Food Experience (including Rome) ROBERTSON WINE TOURS for Kathy & Jon Zeschin Monday, 10th October 2016 - Friday, 21st October 2016

FOCUS

Dear Kathy & Jon,

Please forgive the lengthy turnaround time here. We have had to work with complicated availabilities with the different cooking experiences being the major holdup. Now, everything is 100% in place and ready to go.

We are pleased to present this incredible immersion into Rome & Tuscany through superb wines, incredible foods and, of course, plentiful history. The accommodations are at the top of their game: you really do have some seriously wonderful lodges on this adventure in Italy.

The focus in Rome & Florence is expert guiding, but also allowing you enough time to explore yourselves independently. Our guides will be able to give you all the relevant information and guidance for when you are not accompanied.

Cooking wise, we are extremely pleased to be able to offer three exceptional and private experiences. We are totally confident that you will not only be thrilled with the experiences, but you will also have fun. There will be no overlap among all three and with the bar set very high due to Kathy's extensive interest and experience in the culinary world.

We certainly hope that this ticks all your boxes and we will be able to move on this as soon as possible as we are holding all these services and just awaiting your confirmation.

If you would like to discuss this or any specifics, we are at your disposal.

We hope we have not missed you before you start travelling again.

Sincerely Tim

Hotels:

Hotel: Grand Hotel de la Minerve, Rome

This incredible 16th-century palace in the very heart of the old part of Rome is one of the grand dames. Apart from the great location, the atrium bar, the roof top garden and the terrace are all great spaces to relax, read a book or enjoy a glass of wine. You will see the Pantheon’s roof from your room. The only negative, if there is one at this hotel, is that the corridors of accommodation floors have not been done yet, but everything else is super. This is the best place to go out and stroll around Rome.

Hotel: Balestri, Florence. Tuscany

The hotel finished its complete refit in 2015. We loved the Balestri before and now it is an even smarter choice for our clients. Rooms are a real heaven of whites, gold and grays, a zen like feeling that is perfect for a town that is a sensory overload. Balestri is a super 4 star hotel that enjoys a privileged location over the River Arno, but just far enough from the maddening crowds and 10 minutes away from all of the action. Highly recommended.

Hotel: Castello di Ama Suites, Gaiole In Chianti

Castello di Ama, one of the most famous wine estates in Tuscany, has just opened up four guest suites in their borgo. To say this is our go to winery in Tuscany for serious wine and food experiences tells you everything you need to know. Lodging here is still a bit of secret. Come quick. Please note that this structure functions as a winery stay and not as a hotel, while many amenities are here this is a quiet and peaceful stay and is not a 5 star luxury hotel with all the associated services one expects.

Hotel: Castiglion del Bosco, Montalcino, Tuscany

The estate of Castiglion del Bosco, recently becoming a Rosewood managed hotel (belonging to Massimo Ferragamo since 2003), is a meticulously converted medieval borgo, which has been transformed into an exclusive international resort. With 800 years of history and 4,000 incredible acres, this is the largest private property in Italy. The luxurious suites bear the trademark of Ferragamo, with outstanding high leather touches throughout. Room decorations tend towards traditional local shades such as ochre, burgundy and green. The estate has two restaurants, one more formal (Campo del Drago) and one more casual (La Canonica). Castiglion del Bosco has the de rigueur SPA and infinity pools with the views over heaven on earth. This place is a dream and guests tend to be from all over the world, well travelled and as Castiglion del Bosco is home to one of Italy’s most important golf courses, keen golfers are also in evidence.

Hotel: Aldrovandi Villa Borghese, Rome

The location of Aldrovandi is utterly perfect to enjoy the mythical gardens of Villa Borghese and to be away from the crowds and heat of Rome. The gorgeous communal areas, lovely pool and gardens are a delight and if you have time to enjoy this hotel we think it makes total sense or it is also a great choice for those who know Rome already.

Tour Guiding & Outline – Rome & Tuscany – Kathy & Jon Zeschin

GUIDING

Katia (Rome)

Katia is originally from the eastern coast of Italy, but lives and works in Rome since 1991. After studying foreign languages and literatures at the University of Rome, she started her career as a teacher for high school students and after a few years, she decided to go back to school and learn history, art history and archaeology to qualify and work as a tourist guide. She started leading tours in 1999 and today she is a licensed guide for Rome and the Vatican. Many years later, she is still doing this job with the same enthusiasm and passion, by showing people from all over the world the beauty of the place where she lives and explaining the fascinating history behind each site/monument. Exploring Rome with her will be a wonderful experience.

Francesco (Tuscany)

Born in the city of Florence, Francesco is a licensed driver guide. During the years, he has developed a special attitude in introducing the mood and the spirit of Tuscany to clients, showing them its splendour from the most important and well know historical cities to the smallest charming medieval villages and, above all, the soul of breath-taking landscapes. With Francesco, you will enjoy a first-class hospitality experience. The love for his native land inspires him to offer clients a privileged access to all parts of Tuscany. Although Francesco is not technically a wine expert, he has worked for Antinori in the past and after accompanying so many clients through Chianti and other wine regions, we are confident he will be more than enough for you.

Emma (Florence)

Emma graduated at the Florence University with a Master Degree in Art History on Florentine XV Century  Painting. She has taught Early & High Renaissance Art at the New Etrurian College University in Florence. Emma is also a long time lecturer and docent at the Alumni International Association with a focus on the Medieval & Renaissance Art Collections in Florence & Siena. She has been working as a licensed tour guide in Florence & Siena for many years.

Cristina (Siena)

Cristina graduated at the Florence University with a Master Degree in Art History on XVI Century Florentine Private Art Collections. She also attended the Florence University Institute of Fine Arts with studies toward a PHD in Art History with focus on history of technical restoration of paintings. She taught Early XX Century European Vanguards at the Syracuse University and Early Renaissance Art at Pepperdine (James Madison) University in Florence. Cristina is also a long time lecturer and docent at the New York University (Villa La Pietra) in Florence, with focus on the Acton Art Collection, the Anglo-Americans in Florence and the history of the formal gardens of Italy. She has been working for many years within the Uffizi Education Department as an art history teacher, lecturer and thematic researcher for schools and adults.
