Wine & Food Experience in Southern Italy: Campania, Basilicata, Puglia & Sicily ROBERTSON WINE TOURS for Lindsay & James, Robin & Terry Friday, 03rd June 2016 - Sunday, 12th June 2016

We designed a returning client a tour for 3 friends and ones delightful daughter. Wine and great food, Southern Italy was an easy choice as Robertson Wine Tours have made their base in the South and we firmly believe once our clients have seen the north they need come to the south. Winery visiting and tastings  of Amalfi, Taurasi, Puglia and Basilicata and Sicily.  Wines from many regions were shown including Friuli and Piedmont and Tuscany. Sicily as the finale; Tastings and winemaker lunches  and visits to Etna while staying at our go to Hotel Villa Schuler in Taormina.

Testimonial – Italys South 10 nights

Tim it was so good to see you again. Cristian it was very nice to meet you too.  I personally was deeply touched by the quality you guys delivered in every way imaginable.  I will never consider entering Europe or the world in travel without employing Robertson Wine Tours. Truly amazing trip with a outstanding team. The memories I will never forget!  Thank you.

Dr T. Wilkey  Georgia USA

Dear Tim,
We had such a fantastic trip, and I can’t thank you and Cristian enough for making it possible. Every aspect of our trip was thoroughly enjoyable. You both gave us so much personal attention in planning the trip we dreamed of taking, and it was better than I ever imagined it could be. We really appreciate the time you spent with us as well. You are one of those people who seems like an old friend after a short acquaintance and that is a real gift. The accommodations, guides, food and WINE’S [ emphasis intentional!] were superb and will be forever remembered. Thank you for pairing us up with Katherine. She was such a pleasure to have with us. Be sure to tell her we said hello and send our thanks for putting up with us!  This was somewhat of a first for me, but I don’t think I would ever want to do this type of trip any other way in the future. Lindsay really enjoyed the trip, and that means a lot to me.
I am certain we will be requesting your help again, and I hope it won’t be long either! In the meantime we will definitely let our friends know what a great service you offer and how to contact you.

Dr James Mcmullen, McDonough Georgia USA

Hotels:

Hotel: Santa Caterina, Amalfi Coast.Campania

Santa Caterina is a late 19th century liberty style villa immersed in the beautiful scenery of the Amalfi Coast, a very elegant seaside residence surrounded by the gorgeous blue of the Mediterranean Sea. All of this property enjoys luscious bougainvillea, cultivated olive groves and fruit orchards. The villa is stuffed full of treasures and none more so than the staff who are perhaps the best trained and friendliest that we have found in this region. Clients love the pools, the spa, the food, nothing is amiss. This is five stars luxury in every sense of the word. You need to book ahead, as they have nearly a 100% occupancy rate that should tell you everything you need to know.

Sant’Angelo Luxury Resort, Matera

Sant’Angelo Luxury Resort is blessed with an enchanting view over the very heart of the Sassi of Matera. The hotel is the result of a massive restoration process that involved cave-dwellings, buildings, stairs and courtyards, creating a new concept of lodging. Rooms are scatted all over with one restaurant and reception providing the two hubs of Sant’Angelo Resort. This is a great example of the Albergo Diffuso concept at its absolute finest. Stefano Tardito, the Italian interior designer, has giving elegance, charm and high design, but with functionality. At breakfast or in one of the suites with terrace, you can enjoy a panoramic view overlooking the square of San Pietro Caveoso. Renewed with touches of luxury within ancient rustic spaces. Dinner here is the best in Matera. Our choice in Matera.

Tour Guiding & Outline – Campania, Basilicata, Puglia & Sicily – 9 Nights

GUIDING & EMERGENCY CONTACT DETAILS

Anna  (Rome)

Born in Cosenza (South Italy), Anna has been for many years an official cultural guide of Rome. After taking part as an auditor to the Educational Department of the National Gallery in London, she was awarded the official title of Vatican Guide for the Vatican City. And it was for the Vatican Museums & Gardens that she created emotional and playful journeys for kids to help them to have a strong and very intense relationship with Art & Nature. Thanks to her knowledge, expertise and sensitiveness, she has recently started the career of script writer with a local director. She loves nature, music, theatre, literature, philosophy, religion and art of gardening. She also paints and loves writing. Do not miss the experience of discovering Rome with her.

Katharine  (Campania, Basilicata, Puglia & Sicily)

Your driver will be Katharine, who will also act as your tour escort.
Florence and the entire region of Tuscany are so rich in cultural heritage, stunning art, superb architecture, picturesque landscapes, good food and incredible wine that if you are not careful you will fall in love with the place and spend the rest of your life here. This is exactly what has happened to Katharine. Born in California and graduate of the University of Berkeley (California), Katharine has been living in Italy for the last thirty years now. With a handle on both languages and cultures, she enjoys exposing clients to those aspects of the land, language and lifestyle of Italy that give them something to chew on in addition to sumptuous offerings.

Tim Robertson (Matera)

Your tour leader will be Tim Robertson. Tim was born in UK and is of Scottish descent. Tim was introduced to fine wines in 1988 when he worked for the Sakagura Wine & Liquor in Hong Kong. He was responsible for selling their collection of Bordeaux Wines and other top quality new world wines, probably the best collection in Asia at that time. He never quite recovered from tasting the very best at the age of 18. However, he went on to complete his studies in Economics and Business. He was unable to find a suitably well-paid job in wine in London and so embarked on a career in finance. He decided to leave finance in 1998 to refocus on finding a project involving his love: the wine. He inaugurated Robertson Wine Tours in 2003. The business has grown organically over the years and despite efforts to get involved in exporting he has stuck to the tried and tested formula of offering his clients the best the wine countries have to offer. Client base of Robertson Wine Tours is rightly demanding of the best, extremely well-travelled and generally with knowledge of wine.

Anne (Matera)

Anne is native of France. After seven years of experience in a multinational company in Paris, she decided to move to Matera in 1999, the native city of her husband. Fascinated from the very first time by the beauty of the extraordinary district of the Sassi, she wanted to share this privilege to visitors by showing and explaining the secrets of such a unique. This became soon a very special part of her life.

Francesca (Puglia)

Francesca was born in Puglia, but she has always travelled a lot throughout Europe & USA since she was a child. At the age of 18, she started working in tourism as a tour operator representative in several countries (Italy, Spain, France & Greece), while studying English & Spanish at the Bari University. She was convinced that she wanted to move abroad for work, but after attending a course as tour guide she became aware of the beauty and potentialities of her native land (Puglia) and decided to work as tour guide to promote a cultural image of her region. Together with other colleagues, she co-founded a group of tour guides: their main goal is to escort travellers throughout Puglia letting them experience an exclusive vacation feeling like locals.

Ben (Sicily)

Ben is a professional winemaker, trained sommelier, wine judge, journalist, author and the director of the Etna Wine School. He has more than thirteen years of experience working with artisanal and internationally traded wine brands in California & Italy. He has studied at the University of California in Davis, with the Court of Master Sommeliers, and holds the coveted diploma of Wines & Spirits from London-based Wine & Spirit Education Trust. He is now based in Sicily and it will be a very educative experience to be tasting wines from Etna with him, one that will satisfy your pallet.
