Dear Stacey & Eric:

We are very pleased to be able to present this tour that we have designed for you both.

Following our conversation, we have tried to incorporate all the important things that we identified in the call. This tour is all about you both relaxing in world class surroundings and splurging on outstanding accommodations that really represent the best of both sides of the Andes. We have tried to leave for you as much down time to enjoy both Laspostolle Residence and Cavas Wine Lodge as both these tiny but beautifully crafted lodges are places to savour and enjoy. As per your instructions, there is no rushing around and you will never have to wonder about being late or on schedule. Let's look at the tour on a day-to-day basis.

Depending on the time of your arrival, we would like to give you a short overview of Santiago. If time is not on our side getting through the airport, we are going to drive directly south for about two and half hours and stop off for lunch at one of the most gorgeous wineries you can imagine. Altair is the top wine of the hugely important Vinos de San Pedro, one of the biggest in Chile and this is their icon winery making only two outstanding wines. We will take a look at the estate for the art winery, but it really is all about enjoying the most incredible of lunches with several vintages of their wines and overlooking the whole of the Rapel Valley. After a superb al fresco lunch, we just have over 30 minutes until we get to Lapostolle Residence, one of the most remarkable wineries and lodges in South America. We are going to leave you in the capable hands of the management and for the next three nights you will have experiences in superb service, food and wines that few get to enjoy. While you are at Lapostolle Residence, you will be able to taste some of the other famous wineries in the zone and we have ensured that these tastings will be in private and you will taste icon level wines. As you will not have time to enjoy other regions, we are going to drop you off six wines from other more northerly regions, so you can get to try some of the famous cold climate whites and reds from the San Antonio and Casablanca valleys. You are going to have time to horse ride, take a massage or two and of course just relax with these stunning views.

On Day 04, we are going to pick you up just before lunch (a shame), but the only flight that works for us is at 03.40 PM and although only nipping across the Andes it is regarded as international so we need to be there two hours prior to the flight's departure. Once you hit the ground in Mendoza, our guide is going to get you checked into the Park Hyatt and after freshening up we will taste some great wine, go through the Argentine side of the program and orientate you for Mendoza. On Day 05 (our first full day in Mendoza), we will give you a good overview of the city and its main points of interest. Then you will head out for a sumptuous lunch overlooking the Andes and make two outstanding visits to two small wineries that are at the absolute peak of the craft wine making, Walter Bressia & Domaine St Diego. Day 06 sees us check out of the Park Hyatt and move on to Cavas taking in two wineries that make brilliant tastings and a sumptuous lunch at Vistalba in the Andes foothills before checking into Cavas. We are going to leave you in peace here to enjoy the views, the amazing SPA treatments and any other on site activities available. Finally on Day 08, we will leave on a massively high point as we are going to enjoy our favourite winery in Argentina (Mendel) and a lunch at Melipal, which over the years has consistently been voted the best winery lunch by our clients. We will get you to the airport in time to fly back across the Andes and transfer onto your flight home.

So all in all this is a wonderful relaxation and immersion into the great wines of South America in some stunning lodges. We hope you like the itinerary as much as we do and look forward to welcoming you to South America soon.

Testimonial – Argentina & Chile – 7 Nights

Hi Tim,
Hope all is well! The trip was wonderful! We absolutely loved Lapostolle and Cavas Wine Lodge. Agustina, our guide in Argentina, was fantastic.
The winery tours and tastings were lovely and the lunches were incredible to say the least. Definitely a foodies paradise. My sister is planning to be in Italy for a conference in April. She would like to add on a few days in Tuscany and possibly another location as well. She is interested in visiting wineries. I will be forwarding your email to her also.
Thank you so much for your excellent services.
Warm Regards
Stacey (Surname withheld)  Covington USA. March 2016

Chile Wine Valleys – Colchagua Valley – Lapostolle Residence

In our opinion, Lapostolle Residence is simply one of the best accommodations in South America. Everything about this winery and lodge is perfection: the architecture, the wines, the food, the views: this place has it all. We realize it is a total splurge, but every single client who has stayed here has thanked us. All the meals with as much wine as you want are fully included. When you actually break down all the inclusions (including the superb wine tastings at the neighboring wineries), we see incredible value here. This is a once in a lifetime experience.

Mendoza City – Park Hyatt

Park Hyatt, with its beautifully restored 19th-century colonial building, without doubt is one of the most prestigious hotels in Mendoza. Apart from all the facilities you would expect from a five stare lodge, it enjoys the best position imaginable sitting on the western side of the most important square in Mendoza: Plaza de la Independencia. The amenities include a fully equipped SPA and gymnasium, an outdoor pool and a garden sun deck. There are plenty of bars and two restaurants to enjoy, as well as a deck overlooking the square.

Mendoza Vineyards – Cavas Wine Lodge

The definitive boutique hotel and SPA designed in charming modern style, in the heart of Mendoza wine country. Cavas is unquestionably one of the most stylish places to stay in Mendoza. The huge rock laden rooms are set in the vines against a backdrop of snow-capped mountains. We love the little terrace on the roof of each of the houses: it is a wonderful place to enjoy another glass of wine! Cavas Wine Lodge has a Moorish-Style SPA with wine-inspired therapies. The rooms are enormous and very well thought out: immense and very comfortable beds, roll-top baths with views. Outside, you have your private deck and plunge pool. If you want to be totally alone, there is no reason to leave your little hideout. Cavas offers cuisine to match its sumptuous surroundings. The staff who have been at Cavas a long time are delightful and management run a very tight ship. Food is exceedingly good and for a couple of nights you do not really have to leave. For honeymoons, it is perfect.

Tour Outline & Guiding – Argentina & Chile – 7 Nights

Marcelo (Chile)

A passionate food and wine lover, cyclist and mountaineer, Marcelo has over 15 years of guiding experience. He has a broad knowledge of the wine industry of Chile and local producers, having led tours throughout the major wine-growing regions over recent years. Marcelo is also very well-versed in the food scene of Santiago from his time as a restaurant owner.

Agustina (Argentina)

Agustina was born and raised in Mendoza. She has a degree in public translation of English, although she always knew that she would not want be a full-time translator. What she truly wanted was to speak the language, discover the culture around it, meet and learn from people coming from abroad and travel the world. She has an additional big passion running through her veins since she was born: viticulture and wine. She grew up around vineyards together with other typical cultivations of this region, around hard-work, lots of sun, a bit of hail and the largest satisfaction at the end of every harvest. This explains why she has had a wide range of work experiences so far: freelance bilingual tutor for most of her life, multi-tasking at a boutique winery for five years, organizing and developing the tourism hospitality at a large winery and currently working as a bilingual wine tour guide. Can you guess what all of these jobs have in common? She is doing what she loves the most! She loves welcoming, helping and teaching visitors, as well as learning from and with them. She is very curious, enthusiastic, serviceable, easy-going, creative and amusing … because she truly loves what she does.
