FOCUS

Here you find a tour in  Argentina for a couple and their two daughters. We decided that even if this was their first immersion into South America we would take them up to the Salta region, a place that few get to see and this is the result, A brilliant adventure into breaking scenery and stunning wines and foods.

Testimonial – Argentina – Wine & Food Experience – 7 Nights

Tim
Both Yacco and Hassan were great, we all laughed constantly. The experience of the country was really deepened by Yaco’s stories, it would not have been as much fun without him. We really liked the Inca Museum in Salta, and the cooking class at Piatelli, and the hike in the high altitude valley near Cachi, in particular. Also, I was very impressed by the wine- Wow, they have such great potential, when it comes to fabulous and affordable wines. Unfortunately, we can’t obtain some of our favorites, like the Etchart (Arnold B) wines, Yacochuya and Humanao wines. We should be able to get at least some of the Domingo Molina and Colome wines via distributor. I am interested to see what Piattelli has to offer over the next decade, as their own vines mature. As it is now, they had a very good malbec rose, cabernet blend, and Torrontes, obtained from other growers.
The messed up Argentine government needs to get out of the way of small business and allow them to export–but that is not a uniquely Argentinian problem, I know. Anyway, we had a really great time! The girls had a great time, too–we all liked the highlights that I mentioned, and it was so enjoyable for us to be together as a family without having to worry about the details of how to get around, where to go, what to eat (or not eat), etc. The girls loved the food, they ate llama, rabbit, the local trout, pumpkin stew, and lots of empanadas, plus, of course, lots of beef. But the alfajores ( were the biggest hit, and they returned with several boxes.
Seeing the underground tango clubs in BA was a unique experience, also–they take their tango verrry seriously.
I like your input on the wines, will try to see if Yacochuya is available–we did not get to see the winery, so I will check online.
We will consider an Italian trip next time.

Buenos Aires – Bo Bo

Bo Bo stands for Bourgeois Bohemian. It is situated in a quiet area of cobbled streets. It is a small and charming boutique hotel with fifteen rooms. Personalized service, friendly staff and a Buenos Aires destination restaurant, all add to its charms. Well priced and wonderfully located in the heart of Palermo, you have a massive choice of restaurants, wine bars and shopping possibilities, just stumbling distance.

Cafayate – Patios de Cafayate

Patios de Cafayate is next to the ‘El Esteco winery’, one of the regions famed wineries. A Starwood property for some years now. Think antique furniture, artisan carpets, ceramic floors and think stone walls. This is not a large property with just thirty guest rooms and suites. The communal area through invoke a a feeling of a much larger luxury resort, A wonderful pool area sets of the gardens and dinner alfresco is always a treat. The wines as you can imagine come literally straight from the tanks. In terms of places to stay in Cafayate this is the ideal choice for those who need their comforts.

Cachi – La Merced del Alto

Located in the Calchaqués Valley, in the heart of the Salta mountains, the elegant La Merced del Alto offers something really delightful. A stunning building in gorgeous grounds, framed by the Andes foothills with a super wine cellar, brilliant swimming pool, It really does have it all. Rooms at La Merced are tastefully and sparsely decorated with plenty of natural light many around a courtyard that is typical of the area. Some higher level suites have uninterrupted mountain views and a separate lounge area. La Merced del Alto features a great restaurant and a traditional bar area and games room. Cachi is only 2 kms away. The question is do you want to stay in Cachi the town itself or here  out in the nature? Hard choice to be honest.

Jujuy, Purmamarca – Manantial del Silencio

This is a wonderful old colonial style house in the centre of the town, away from any noise and it is in fact new built made to look old. The restaurant is incredibly good and the rooms are all old in style. This is a truly wonderful place. El Manantial del Silencio is a place to recover from the journey we have taken thus far. The service is suitably slow just  like everything else this part of the world, why rush? The place to stay.

Tour Outline & Guiding – Argentina – 7 Nights

GUIDING

Mariana (Buenos Aires, Argentina)

She is fluent in English & in Spanish with many years of experience in tourism. Mariana is just the perfect guide as she can read people very well and knows pretty well how to get into the skin of Buenos Aires. Two half days with her will be more than enough to get a very intense and fascinating understanding of Buenos Aires. And do not forget that she is also a great tango dancer and it will be lots of fun to discover the local night scene with her.

Yaco (Salta, Argentina)

Yaco (that means water in Quechua Language) is fluent in English and Spanish … and very knowledgeable in Argentine Northwest Region: its culture, history and folklore. He also enjoys deep knowledge of the local wineries and has an excellent rapport with the wineries owners. We have had vast experience with Yaco … and clients have nothing but praise for him. The territory and the nature of Salta is also a very important resource of Yaco: the interpretation of protected sites and its people is what leads us to make of a journey a very unique process of discovery. Like almost all the inhabitants of Salta, he is also a great folk singer and will do his best to make this section of the tour an unforgettable experience for you all.
