Testimonial – Argentina – 13 Nights

We offered Tim a challenge of coming up with a tour that not only included wineries and gourmet food but also included some adventure and shopping! He set up a tour that exceeded our expectations. Tim was very flexible, listened to what we were saying and kept changing the itinerary until it was exactly what we wanted. He set us up with experienced tour guides and drivers who went above and beyond every day with us. Tim’s selection of hotels, wineries and restaurants was impeccable. Thanks to all for a memorable trip.

Hotels:

Mendoza City – Park Hyatt

Park Hyatt, with its beautifully restored 19th-century colonial building, without doubt is one of the most prestigious hotels in Mendoza. Apart from all the facilities you would expect from a five stare lodge, it enjoys the best position imaginable sitting on the western side of the most important square in Mendoza: Plaza de la Independencia. The amenities include a fully equipped SPA and gymnasium, an outdoor pool and a garden sun deck. There are plenty of bars and two restaurants to enjoy, as well as a deck overlooking the square.

Uco Valley – Al Pasion Wine Lodge

Al Pasion Wine Lodge is located in Uco Valley, just one hour and a half away from the centre of Mendoza. We are so pleased to be able to offer something else in this region, as the Uco Valley has a very scant offering of lodges that we like to use. With La Azul & Al Pasion, we are happily covered again. The lodge consists of five luxurious rooms with private terrace and each room is based on one of the elements: metal, wood, earth, air, water and fire. They have a wine cellar, where you can taste excellent wines from the region and  wines from the winery of this lodge. Add in an infinity pool with a jacuzzi and never ending vistas. This really is the perfect place to relax and unwind. The lodge offers a half-board option, which is perfect, as there are very few places we can take you at night close by.

Salta – Legado Mítico

If we love Legado in Buenos Aires, even if its hard to get into these days, we think Salta’s sister property is just as appealing. Legado’s management care and its apparent from the moment you enter this lovingly restored town house. Located just a few blocks away from the centre and better for it. Legado is our choice in Salta.  The continued theme, of Argentine prints, leathers, and paintings combined with dark woods and elegant grays give the whole place a superb look. Legado Mítico looks after our guests so well that we hard pressed to choose another location in Salta.

Cafayate – Patios de Cafayate

Patios de Cafayate is next to the ‘El Esteco winery’, one of the regions famed wineries. A Starwood property for some years now. Think antique furniture, artisan carpets, ceramic floors and think stone walls. This is not a large property with just thirty guest rooms and suites. The communal area through invoke a a feeling of a much larger luxury resort, A wonderful pool area sets of the gardens and dinner alfresco is always a treat. The wines as you can imagine come literally straight from the tanks. In terms of places to stay in Cafayate this is the ideal choice for those who need their comforts.

Cachi – El Cortijo

El Cortijo is a restored colonial house transformed into a boutique hotel in the incredible village of Cachi. It offers a mix of  rooms and suites, some spacious some small. As we normally only stay in Cachi a night or two its a perfectly formed choice. A mix of traditional local décor and modern twists with Art presented in many place, this is a haven of tranquility, toped of with the sound of water from the courtyards spring and small fountain. Breakfast is adequate but at lunch and dinner the ‘Catalino’ restaurant comes into its own, serving superb local (altiplano) cuisine.  This is the only hotel we use in the centre of Cachi, intimate and well priced.

Jujuy, Purmamarca – Manantial del Silencio

This is a wonderful old colonial style house in the centre of the town, away from any noise and it is in fact new built made to look old. The restaurant is incredibly good and the rooms are all old in style. This is a truly wonderful place. El Manantial del Silencio is a place to recover from the journey we have taken thus far. The service is suitably slow just  like everything else this part of the world, why rush? The place to stay.

Buenos Aires – Legado Mítico

A most sophisticated boutique hotel in fashionable district of Palermo: elegant in style and with excellent service. This townhouse has a restrained façade, but from the moment the smiling staff open the door you will feel welcome. An intimate lobby opens into a spacious bar and lounge, beautifully designed to combine classic and modern in equal measure, and all very Argentine. Leather chesterfields and Mies van der Rohe chairs are given a gaucho twist. Chic cushions in indigenous textiles also sit on minimalist sofas. There is no restaurant here, but breakfast is served and there is an astonishing choice of places to eat on your doorstep. This elegant retreat feels like a smart private club and it is without a doubt our choice in Buenos Aires. We have a great relationship with them and they so do care about our clients.

Tour Outline & Guiding – Argentina – 13 Nights

GUIDING

Mariana (Buenos Aires)

She is fluent in English & Spanish with many years of experience in tourism. Mariana is the perfect guide as she can read people very well and she knows pretty well how to get into the skin of Buenos Aires. Four hours with her will be enough to get a very intense and very fascinating understanding of Buenos Aires and do not forget that she is also a tango dancer.

Ricardo (Mendoza)

Ricardo is a professional translator of English. He has been doing wine tours with RWT for the last eight years. He has a very extensive knowledge of the wine world. He is exclusively dedicated to the guiding and he does really know all the wineries of Mendoza. He is professional and most importantly he is fanatic of good wine and good food. It has excellent capacity to interact with tourists from all over the world. His culture generally makes a tour with him a unique experience.

Yaco (Salta)

Yaco (that means water in Quechua Language) is fluent in English and Spanish … and very knowledgeable in Argentine Northwest Region: its culture, history and folklore. He also enjoys deep knowledge of the local wineries and has an excellent rapport with the wineries owners. We have had vast experience with Yaco … and clients have nothing but praise for him. The territory and the nature of Salta is also a very important resource of Yaco: the interpretation of protected sites and its people is what leads us to make of a journey a very unique process of discovery. Like almost all the inhabitants of Salta, he is also a great folk singer and will do his best to make this section of the tour an unforgettable experience for you all.
