BUENOS AIRES

ALVEAR PALACE

The height of luxury, sophistication and Belle Époque elegance in what is often dubbed Argentina’s finest hotel. La Grande Dame of Buenos Aires , Alvear Palace exceeds all expectations. Set in an imposing 1930s French building, on the grandest of Avenues. At the Alvear you know you’re somewhere exceptional.

Elegance is everywhere: from the foyers marble splendor to the darkened lobby bar of antique wood and period lamps - ideal for cocktails and romantic encounters. Then there’s L'Orangerie - all cream marble and shimmering silver - the perfect setting for the tea ritual, a Buenos Aires hallmark. Breakfast is the most lavish buffet imaginable, served in a palatial ballroom. And the bedrooms and suites continue the grand style, with Louis XVI furniture, crystal chandeliers, fresh fruit and flowers, butlers and really sumptuous bathrooms. The 'Cigar Bar' is an art decor delight. Alvear Palace is simply the best place to stay in Buenos Aires if you want old style luxury. Inspected 1/2012.

BOBO

Bo Bo stands for Bourgeois Bohemian and this hotel known as the Bo Bo is situated in a quiet area of cobbled streets, while all the shops and restaurants of the lively Palermo district are within close walking distance. It is a small and charming boutique hotel with contemporary furnishings and an excellent restaurant.

Each of the fifteen rooms is decorated with a different theme. The rooms are cosy and have TV, safe and Internet access. The Techno and Minimalist rooms have a small terrace each. For Palermo chic at affordable prices it's a great boutique hotel. Inspected 1/2012.

LEGADO MITICO

A most sophisticated boutique hotel in fashionable Palermo: elegant in style, with excellent service.

This 1920’s townhouse in central Palermo has a restrained façade, but from the moment the smiling staff open the door, you’ll feel welcome. An intimate lobby opens into a spacious bar and lounge, beautifully designed to combine classic and modern in equal measure, and all very Argentine. Leather chesterfields and Mies van der Rohe chairs are given a gaucho twist; chic cushions in indigenous textiles sit on minimalist sofas. There is no restaurant here but breakfast is served and there is an astonishing choice of places to eat on your doorstep. This elegant retreat feels like a smart private club, hard to get into and a few rooms at the front can be noisy. There are only 11 rooms here, but listening to our clients comments from 2012 this is our choice in Buenos Aires. Inspected 6/2011.

MELIA BOUTIQUE RECOLETA
Situated on one of the most prestigious streets of Buenos Aires with spa facilities and luxurious décor, the Meliá offers an on-site beauty shop and gourmet dining options in upscale Recoleta neighborhood. Free wi fi internet access in the room and in public areas. Air conditioned rooms are styled with carpeted floors, elegant floor-to-ceiling curtains and stylish wood furnishings. There are flat-screen cable TVs and some room's feature lap tops and free access to mini bars. A buffet breakfast is served every morning at bistro Recoleta. Although this is a small hotel its services are large and the position on Posadas is superb, a baby Alvear in the making but not the service levels of the Alvear. Inspected 12/2011.

FOUR SEASONS

Located in the exclusive La Recoleta district, close to business, shopping and cultural pursuits, Four Seasons service as always is in a class of its own– featuring modern comforts in a contemporary tower and in the period beauty of an early 20th-century, French-style mansion. Incredible location and wonderful pool area. We would take the Alvear over this hotel, as it does not scream Buenos Aires, it says Four Seasons, but once bitten by there service levels its hard to give up. Wi fi paid apart! Inspected 6/2012.

MIO

Design heavy and appealing to a younger clientele, Mio is a welcome departure from Buenos Aires’s epidemic of bland boutique hotels. The location is ideal, just steps from Recoletas heart. This hotel has a wine theme and is owned by the most important wine dynasty in Argentina. We love the bathtubs, sculpted out of trees that had been in a fire on their estate, truly innovative. There is wine on tap, which for us completes a great new concept in wine enjoyment. Superb Breakfast and wonderful bar area. We love the hotel but not everybody will.. Inspected 1/2012.

CASA SUR

Great position, right next to all you need on Avenida Callao. Rooms are small but well priced so we should get you into one of the higher categories. Its a very busy street but great sound insulation and the back rooms would be favoured. Lovely bar area, I am sure we can open some lovely wines and enjoy here. Seems to us the staff will go that extra mile and you will not get lost as there are very few rooms 36. Spa And gym Miniature. Bengal one of B.A's best Indian restaurants have a franchise here. Everything is intimate (small) here. Will certainly suit some of our clients. Inspected March 2012

LOI SUITES

The reason we like this hotel is the size of the suites, the best value in town, nearly 50m2 of space and it is close to the action of Recoleta. Loi offers stylish, comprehensively equipped suites in this 4-star hotel in central Buenos Aires. Located just steps away from main restaurants, cultural attractions and the famed Recoleta cemetery. Loi offers 112 guest rooms and all rooms are decorated in a modern style using a combination of white and pastel colours, breakfast and pool area. inspected 2/2011.

MENDOZA

DIPLOMATIC

The hotel is located in a privileged residential area at the intersection of the traditional avenida Sarmiento and avenida Belgrano, a few blocks from the main commercial and tourist areas. Therefore, its strategic location offers guests the best view of both the Andes and the city itself.

As 'The Luxury Hotel in Mendoza', it was designed in exquisite detail involving elegance and class, Lovely pool decked area overlooking the Andes which includes a full spa, large function rooms. This is a 5 star hotel with 4 star prices, there have been a few small service issues over the years but we keep them on their feet, 178 rooms on 19 floors. We really like the hotel. Inspected 8/2012.

EXECUTIVE PARK SUITES

Positioned directly adjacent to the Plaza Italia in the Plaza Independencia, the Executive Hotel Park Suites in Mendoza is one of the most convenient hotels in terms of location in Mendoza. This hotel is run by the same group of the Diplomatic hotel, this is the older of the hotels, Each of the bedrooms in the Executive is outfitted with high-speed Internet access, a full-sized bathroom, TV, a personal safe, dryer, uninterrupted dial phone service, a mini bar, and room service. Amenities include a rooftop swimming pool, (dipping) and a fitness room, laundry and dry cleaning services.

We stay at this hotel often and although not awe inspiring it works and it works very well. Staff are extremely reliable and able and sometimes that makes all the difference. Inspected 5/2012.

MENDOZA (CLOSE TO THE VINEYARDS)

ENTRE CIELOS.

Sophisticated cool in the foothills of Lujan de Cuyo. This is an extraordinary Swiss Venture and we are backing them totally, they have taken onboard our comments and integrated our complaints and we like this. The rooms are extraordinary and it makes this a totally viable contender to the best lodging in Mendoza next to Cavas Wine lodge. Design is the name of the game here, Quiet breathtaking rooms, full of all the gadgets, Nespresso and Plasma. You can have rooms which are a low key, with a quiet deck but with no view to talk of; or you can look on to the pool area which is great if you are fine with people watching while you read a book or chillax. Pool area is just without equal. Guests staying at Entre Cielos can enjoy the hotel’s wellness centre and Hammam, practice yoga and work out with a personal trainer, all this is included and the Hammam is really wonderful.

This is the only hotel which could top Cavas and its great that they finally have some competition. But not now, Recent service levels and issues with our clients mean that we have to say lets see and hope that the teething problems get resolved.

A full buffet breakfast is served daily and is of a very high level. Although not so close to the services of Chacras de Coria it is set in the vineyards of Vistalba. Inspected 12/1/2012.

MENDOZA (CLOSE TO THE VINEYARDS)
CAVAS WINE LODGE

The definitive boutique hotel and glorious spa designed in charming modern style, in the heart of Mendoza wine country.

Cavas is unquestionably one of the most stylish places to stay in all of Argentina; Cavas is luxurious and hip without being pretentious. The rooms are set in the vines against a backdrop of snow-capped mountains, we love the little terrace on the roof of the each of the houses, wonderful way to enjoy another glass of wine! The airy entrance lounge is filled with striking sculpture and modern paintings. There's an intimate Moorish spa with wine-inspired therapies. The rooms are enormous and very well thought out, swirling organic walls, immense beds, roll-top baths with views; outside, your private deck and plunge pool, if you want to be totally alone there is no reason to leave your little hideout. Cavas offers cuisine to match its sumptuous surroundings. Sip a cool Torrontes under the pergola as you choose from a menu of exquisite modern Latin American cuisine. You are miles from anything, slightly captive but; if you can afford it do it. It's worth it. Inspected October 2012.

UCO VALLEY

Approximately 60 minutes south of the city of Mendoza, the Uco Valley encompasses the highest altitude vineyards in the Cuyo area(averaging between 900 and 1,200 meters above sea level). Known especially for Malbec, Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Sauvignon Blancs, the Valle de Uco draws wine makers from all over the world (including Michel Rolland). Its striking natural setting—below a stretch of the Andes that includes the 6,800 meter Mount Tupungato—makes it one of the most picturesque regions in Mendoza. The valley's dry weather and the wide thermal amplitude between day and night have created its distinctive microclimates, which result in some magnificent wines. You cannot come to Mendoza and not come to the Uco Valley.
ANTUCURA ( UCO VALLEY ) (RWT's Choice in this region)
Chill out/ Relax; chillax. That’s the only thing you really have to do at Antucura. Down an unassuming road in the village of Vista Flores in the far flung Uco Valley, built as the home of the owner of the winery with huge upkeep it has been turned into a lodge of 1st class proportions. Walk among the acres of vines, play a game of pool, or better yet, sip their house wines as the sun plunges behind the Andes. After sunset enjoy regional cooking paired with house wines. Stay in one of their eight beautifully crafted suites and wake to blessed silence. A perfect stopping off point for the wineries of Uco Valley. Inspected in January 2012.

INTERCONTINENTAL

Intercontinental Mendoza is part of the city’s burgeoning entertainment, business and hospitality centre. Its contemporary architecture, although not unusual in other cities around the world, defies the traditional, simple style of most buildings in the area.

This is a our choice in Mendoza. Why well its all about the staff and training. Our clients are treated like gold, whether they are in for one night or 7. The service levels are beyond any other in a hotel of this size in Mendoza. First and foremost and has all the amenities one would expect from a 5 star Intercontinental. The hotel is home to Argentina’s largest conference /meeting space outside of Buenos Aires. We like the hotel for its size, huge corridors and of course Intercontinental service levels. The upper level rooms and suites are a must for views and comfort.

The only disadvantage of this hotel is the location; only a 5 minute taxi to the centre of town but if you are only here for a few nights you might regret not being at the heart of the action. Inspected 8/2012.

PARK HYATT

The Park Hyatt Mendoza, with its beautifully restored 19th-century Spanish colonial building, Without doubt it is one of the most prestigious hotels in Mendoza.  Apart from all the facilities you would expect from a 5 star hotel it enjoys the best position imaginable sitting on western side of the most important square in Mendoza Plaza de la Independencia, The hotel amenities include a fully equipped spa and gymnasium, an outdoor pool and a garden sun deck. 186 rooms and suites. There are plenty of bars, and two restaurants to enjoy as well as a deck overlooking the square. Inspected 6/2012.

MENDOZA (CLOSE TO THE VINEYARDS)

LARES DE CHACRAS

This is a semi urban setting close to the little Spanish plaza of Chacras. The construction is rural, combining Andean stone with typical desert wood. The lodge is simplicity and modern comfort combined. The air-conditioned country house was renovated in 2008 and has a total of 10 rooms. Facilities at the hotel include a hotel safe, games room, TV lounge and children's playground. There is also a café, bar and restaurant on-site. The house has conference facilities for business guests and WIFI. Room service and a laundry service are also available. We like the location and we like the way its run. It can be a little noisy early AM with dogs and cockerels but that's part of the charm, maybe.

Clients feedback is that this is far above their expectations, The staff go out of their way all of the time. We think it deserves the highest rating for Hotels in Mendoza by Trip Advisor. Well Done. Inspected January 2012.

MENDOZA (CLOSE TO THE VINEYARDS)

CLUB TAPIZ

A charming little hotel with an excellent restaurant and its own bodega in the wine growing region. Very hard to get into without a lot of anticipation.

Club Tapiz a charming posada surrounded by vineyards. 7 traditional and airy rooms  of the long gallery, with its original slender columns and terra-cotta tiles. Tall doors, wide windows and elegant proportions bring 19th century elegance. Bold design abounds: a minimalist water feature, chic decking and vast picture windows in the relaxing lounge. There’s a glazed panel onto tasting rooms below; specially commissioned contemporary paintings sit well on exposed brick and aubergine walls. There is a nightly wine tasting with the wineries award winning wines.

Club Tapiz has a very small pool and spa area. Relax after all the strenuous wine tasting with a massage in the spa, before moving on to superb picadas in the lounge, then a sophisticated dinner in the restaurant 'Terruno' this restaurant has built up quite a following and is seriously good, we love the tables upstairs as the view if delightful. Remember the prices are much lower than other places, don't expect to snap your fingers and get noticed here, always busy. Inspected March 2011.

SALENTEIN ( UCO VALLEY )

The posada has 12 rooms in total and we wish they had 20 more, all with en suite bathrooms and with your own terrace. The posada is set nestled in the Finca (farm) of Salentein estate, an enormous Dutch investment and in fact the biggest so far in the Uco. The Posada has a restaurant overlooking vineyards, a swimming pool and a very relaxed atmosphere. Dinner is normally an Asado with the wines of Salentein.

Activities some included in the cost are to be enjoyed include walking, horse riding, fishing, white water rafting and 4x4 vehicle excursions. There is Kilka an Art and cultural centre, your stay includes a VIP tour of the Salentein winery and entrance to a gallery displaying a range of modern and contemporary art and pictures by local artists. IGUASSU
GRAND IGUASSU

Its distinguished architectural style, exclusive decoration including authentic paintings of renowned artists, three bars, two luxurious restaurants, international shows in Le Bistro and one of the most important casinos in Latin America. We are not gamblers and this is a little bit of a turn off, but it absolutely does not interfere with the hotel.. Inspected in June 2010.

Set in the midst of the forest, on the edge of the Iguazu river but just 5km from the Argentine/Brazil border and 15 minutes from the Argentine side of the falls. Rooms, with modern, stylish decor, are set in blocks around the gardens connected by floating bridges (there is also a network of paths). Large pool area, spacious lobby and sitting areas and two restaurants. Just over 2 years old and frankly stunning. We prefer the rooms with a deck to enjoy the sights and sounds of the jungle.
